I've narrowed it down to The Devil's Cry and Sonne. If they don't like having two from me, well... yeah.

peace

Dear deviantART;

It's been a while, hasn't it? Well... since last Tuesday, at least. I've just been so busy with working two jobs; at least until the end of the year.

Wal*Mart has been good to me thus far. Except last night when I had to stock Cosmetics. And it kicked my ass. It didn't help that that was my third night working there and I'd previously done a shift at Big M; so my leg was killing me. Though I bought some rapid-release pain pills... that are... in my car at this time.

So here I am, sitting at the laptop for the first time since that night, I believe. I had a minute or two on Friday, but that was it; looking up something on a site for my neighbor.

And though I was nearly falling asleep in the chair in the living room whilst playing Animal Crossing (meteor shower. It was lovely), I'm semi-awake enough to thank you for the 458 Deviations and 120 Messages (most of them being Journals... again). The 458 Deviations wouldn't be so bad if they weren't mostly Kingdom Hearts fangirling and YAOI. I honestly don't know why I'm still in that group. Oh well.

Now that I've completed the deviation viewing; it is time to type what I want to get down before my wrists decide to scream bloody murder at me and my brain shuts down completely from lack of sleep.

~comicbookassembly's new assignment is drawing a comic based on a song of choice. I can't think of just ONE that I want to do; so what I'm going to do is list the songs I want to make a comic of. If you're interested; Google the lyrics and listen to it on last.FM or YouTube. And perhaps ask me why I decided to have that song on the list.

Here we go:

Sonne - Rammstein
Herzeleid - Rammstein
Riptide - Sick Puppies
War - Sick Puppies
White Balloons - Sick Puppies
Always - OOMPH!
You've Got It - OOMPH!
Viel zu Tief - OOMPH!
They Don't Care About Us - Michael Jackson
The Devil's Cry - ... the guys who wrote and performed it for DMC3 OST

Probably a few more, but I'm starting to get a headache.

Also: I have got to stop drawing KG fanart. It's all I think about now. Learyry has found a nice home in my heart; the little asshole.

That and I want to do original stuff for the above comic(s).

... I'm going to nom a couple Confetteria Raffaello soon before I go to bed. Which will be soon. I think I want to draw thumbs for "Sonne" and "The Devil's Cry".

"Sketchy" inking vs. The Pen Tool

Tue Dec 1, 2009, 9:05 PM
I've been thinking about the Pen Tool in Photoshop since last night. I've never properly introduced myself to it; my lines have been all but professional, sketchy is the word I was thinking of to describe my inking skills in my digital art. The problem with it is my hand cramps up way too easy nowadays that when I'm drawing the same thing in three layers (sketch, detailed, "ink" outline) I can barely finish it. Now the Pen Tool seems to be somewhat friendly, albeit time-consuming; you have to have your lines perfectly on your sketched lineart else it'll fuck it all up.

Weighing the pros and cons of my style of lineart versus the Pen Tool, I really can't come up with any solution to my problem until I actually draw something traditionally (I grabbed a SCRAP I uploaded a couple years ago) and use the Pen Tool to "ink" it.

I've heard it was more time-consuming, because you should line all of your art, as well as layer it, before creating the ink stroke. Not to mention if you want to simulate pressure, which is delicious, because I've played around with the Pen Tool a bit

Nixxeh, meet Pen Tool. Pen Tool, Nixxeh. Now that you've been introduced to each other, I hope you have a lovely time together.

That, and I really can't get myself to sleep, yet.

So...

I got bored of the Mudkips skin, as you can see. It's quite hard to find a journal skin that catches my eye... that doesn't have itty bitty mistakes in it.

I settled with this one for now. Maybe I'll stick with it until this offer of enjoying journal skins for free ends.

I haven't been drawing as much as I want to. Though what i DO have, I have to scan in. And I'm a lazy bitch, so that won't happen anytime soon.

Although I am excited to watch the Season Finale of Storm Chasers tonight. Mmm... bullet-proof glass to the face... :iconiwantitplz:

I think I'll make me some sammich before going to work.

Time-Traveling to December 19th and seeing the pine trees with lights on Animal Crossing... makes me want to copypasta this from =Aret's journal.

----~----

THE BASICS: write a Christmas/Holiday wish list. It can be any 10 wishes you'd like to have granted, no matter what they are. Possible or seemingly impossible. People look and grant the wishes if they can. It's not about "OMFG PRESENTS", it's about making someone else's holiday a little brighter by giving. Personally, I get more out of giving than receiving sometimes. It's just a good feeling to give.

STEP ONE

** Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

** If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. In this case, you can always just note someone on dA.

** Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!

STEP TWO

** Surf around your friend list to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

** If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

** You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Becca. I want her up here with me so she is no longer miserable.

Actually, that's it for now. I'll edit with more, I suppose.
